Latest Mac Adverts Not So Genius

Apple Genius New Mac Adverts

It’s not very often Apple runs a dedicated ad campaign all about the Mac. In fact the last time Apple ran a campaign was the incredibly successful “Get a Mac” ads starring Justin Long and John Hodgeman in 2006. The ads which had sibling runs in Japan and the UK were cultural icons, parodied and imitated over and over again. Get a Mac lasted four years until Apple killed it in 2010. Apple has not stopped advertising individual Mac machines since 2010 but it was time for a new campaign all about the Mac.

Yesterday during NBC’s delayed run of the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony Apple ran a number of new ads dedicated to the Mac, the ads don’t have an umbrella name yet but they do have a running theme. Each ad, there are currently three, feature the same Apple Genius who finds himself in a quirky situation where an oblivious individual either needs help on their Mac or is unaware of the unique benefits.

Outside of the United States Apple has been making headlines that aren’t exactly positive and it’s all surrounding how the company has chosen to advertise the new iPad. As is common knowledge these days Apple took the bold step to include LTE connectivity in its latest iPad model as one of the major features. Ahead of the iPad release I shot down the chances of Apple including LTE, stating primarily a lack of international adoption as a key reason for Apple to wait a year. I later relented and suspected it was inevitable.

However, LTE in the iPad is seemingly causing Apple more headaches than they would have envisaged and since before the iPad was even announced has been a point of frustration for myself and many others. This breaks into two simple ideas, the first idea being that LTE actually constitutes as true 4G connectivity and second the reason as to why Apple hobbled the iPad internationally?

Latest iPad 2 Ad Focuses on Learning

In the newest iPad 2 advert that begun airing on TV this week, Apple has shone a light on learning with the iPad.

The advert features eight adverts including the company’s own iBooks and Garageband apps.

Are you curious about new ideas? Do you want to learn a new language. Or just a new word. Maybe you want to know more about anatomy. Or astronomy. You could master something new or uncover a hidden talent. There’s never been a better time to learn.

Latest iPad Ad Focuses on ‘Now’

Apple has begun airing its latest iPad advert which focuses on the subject of ‘Now’. The advert looks at how the consumption of many forms of media has become instantaneous from reading newspapers to looking at the stars.

Apple Runs “We Believe” iPad 2 Commercial

Apple has this weekend begun running a new iPad 2 commercial titled “We Believe”, in which Apple focuses on the pure functionality of the latest iPad.

Moving away from previous iPad adverts which highlighted apps and functions of the iPad this advert focuses on the capabilities of the iPad with no mention of individual apps or hardware specifications. The advert aims to show an intuitive and emotional tie between the iPad and the user.

The new adverts dialogue is as follows.

“This is what we believe. Technology alone is not enough. Faster, thinner, lighter: those are all good things. But when technology gets out of the way, everything becomes more delightful, even magical. That’s when you leap forward. That’s when you end up with something, like this.”

Apple VP of Marketing Exits Company

It has been revealed today that Allison Johnson, Apple’s vice president of worldwide marketing communications since 2005 is to leave the company. The news revealed by several sources to AllThingsD is somewhat notable and surprising.

According to those familiar with the matter Johnson is leaving Apple to co-found a new marketing and communications firm with Former Facebook PR exec Brandee Barker.

Apple refused to comment on the departure and there is no word on who will replace Johnson.

Today Apple released yet another advert for the iPad, this time touting the tablet device as iconic and showing off some of the best of the 60,000 apps available.

The new advert entitled ‘iPad is Iconic’ is in the style of Apple’s previous iPad adverts; the 30 second ad shows a series of apps followed by a single word:

Apple Brings Christmas Spirit in iPhone Advert

Apple has begun airing a brand new iPhone 4 advert in the U.S. which is full of Christmas spirit whilst still showing off the features of FaceTime on the iPhone 4.

Apple describes the advert which has been running for a day or so as:

FaceTime lets you easily enjoy video calls with the people you really care about… like Santa.

The song featured in the ad is The Christmas Song by Nat King Cole.

Apple Touts iOS 4.2 in Latest iPad Advert

In a brand new advert called “iPad is Amazing” Apple is touting the new features of iOS 4.2 on the iPad including printing, multi-tasking and AirPlay.
