Following reports from the Commerical Times and the Dow Jones, Reuters is now reporting that Apple has ordered 10-inch touchscreen units expected to be delivered in the third quarter of 2009. The source of the information is said to be close to the manufacturer Wintek.

Taiwan touchscreen specialist Wintek already makes small screens for Apple iPhones, and has received orders for the larger ones that are roughly the same size as those used in mini PCs, said the source close to the Taiwan firm. He asked not to be identified because he was not authorized to talk to the media.

He added that he did not know what the final product would be, or who would make it.

The report is similar in nature to the one which came from the Dow Jones newswire but are said to be from separate sources.
