After the earlier story originally posted by Mac Rumors, PinchMedia has followed up with some more evidence of the existence of “iPhone 2,1″.

PinchMedia offers the following additional information:

  • First appearance of iPhone2,1 in PinchMedia’s application called Pinch Analytics was early October 2008.
  • Occurrences were “sporadic” until December 2008 when the pace picked up.
  • There are at least “a few dozen” iPhone2,1 devices in use.
  • Almost all exclusively located in south San Francisco bay area.
  • Connections mostly over WiFi but some over AT&T’s network.

To give some background, Pinch Media gives iPhone developers with ad serving and tracking software that can be embedded within iPhone applications.
